When FiveM and GTA-MP were both shut down due to cease-and-desist I ripped my dick off and facepalmed at the same time.

Those projects were the only hope of getting decent multiplayer for GTA 5 any time soon. It could've been so amazing, like SA-MP times ten, but now it'll be at least five, ten years before anything similar pops up.I mean what did they think was going to happen? That the companies who benefit from GTA5's microtransactions would give them a pat on the back for developing software that could potentially reduce their profit? 'Yeah, sure, let's set up a fancy-looking website and a discussion forum that'll get people hyped up and generate us a lot of publicity.
I'm sure nothing bad is going to happen. Why should we set up a darknet site instead? Nobody uses.i2p and.onion anyway so what's the point?' It nailed the basics. The gameplay was good, the characters interesting and the story got you hooked. One of the smartest things they did with characterization was avoid the generic stereotyping that is very common in RPGs. Even the characters who seem to be ripped from Generic Clan X vampire write-ups end up having more depth and complexity than you realize at first. And that depth and complexity is usually revealed in an very organic way instead of some boring After School Special bullshit. Everything just seems to fit.
Eh, it's arguable whether a social-focused character (Presence Toreador or the like) could reasonably complete some sections of the game (particularly the Tzimisce sewer and the final quests). I had huge problems with my Obfuscate-reliant Nosferatu doing both of those areas, as I couldn't just avoid all the enemies, and I hadn't leveled Potence very high.
My primary method of killing was to single out an enemy, drain them, and move on, keeping Obfuscate up at all times. But when enemies start being able to see through Ob, or you need to kill un-drainable foes, you have problems with that strategy. Don't get me wrong, it's a totally cheesy build, but it was one I enjoyed and worked for like 80% of the game, and it totally fell apart there. I like that you were able to play that way, but I do think there is a limitation of the game when you assume you can make it through a number of bad situations without building some combat skills.
It's a totally worth while question to ask.I've said a lot that I think everyone is wrong for thinking they can complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without some backup combat skills. You are literally the head of security going up against cybernetic terrorist/military/triads. I would like to play games like you attempted, but other games like Skyrim cheese builds break the game too much to keep people challenged. Cara burning pake nero. Combat was the weakest part of Bloodlines, so being able to skip it with some builds would have been interesting-but I don't know. I've said a lot that I think everyone is wrong for thinking they can complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without some backup combat skills.Except that shit was my biggest criticism and the biggest failing of DX:HR and I am already prepared to hate DX:MD for the same reason. In that game, Jenson controlled every single interaction except the boss fights. It felt contrived as hell and rather stupid. You really, actually can complete the game without spending points on any augs.
The game was also very 'gamey' in the sense that it rewarded you more for playing the 'correct' way: knock everyone out, be stealthy, and hack literally everything even if you have the right password / code.Like you said, Jenson is a cyber-augmented commando to an almost comical degree (like how the fact that Jenson is using early augs but is inexplicably more powerful than any character in the much later Deus Ex 1). He's going against some of the most well-funded and trained organizations in the world and every single time you just crouch-walk around, crawl through a vent, hug a bunch of people into a coma, and win.The boss fights are weird in DX:HR because they're the one time where someone else controls the encounter. Normally it's Jensen who gets the jump on everyone, and for the boss fights someone else gets the jump on you. Yet people hated them because the entire game teaches you that you are basically an unstoppable god who can do whatever you want, whenever you want, suddenly that feeling of power is (rightly) taken from you.The boss fights weren't actually the problem with DX:HR. The problem with DX:HR is that the entire game lets the player sit in their own comfort zone so when they're taken out of it, they're confused and upset.
The only other time this happens is when Malik is shot down - and even then with some clever gameplay you can still complete that section without killing anyone and knocking everyone out.Nearly every single person in DX:HR was designed to be defeated in an easy, stealthy way, to the point that it felt fucking stupid. Cannot change resolution windows 10. I'm sitting in an office writing this where there's no vents. My desk is facing the door, and I can see into the hallway.
If someone walks by, I see. If this were the world of DX:HR, I'd be facing the back corner so someone could sneak up on me, for no reason except to let a player crouch-walk in and knock me out. It felt contrived, unrealistic, and stupid, and as a result it tailored the entire game around hand-holding the player in whatever playstyle they wanted, even when it shouldn't have.Vampire: The Masquerade didn't play that game. You can't talk your way past a werewolf. The game didn't conveniently put little side-routes and put people facing backwards just so you could be stealthy simply because players think they deserve to be stealthy.
I'm batshit crazy! Suddenly flushed down a drainage pipe, our brave Malkavian stumbles through the sewage system in search of the Nosferatu and the beasts that threaten them.Vampire the Masquerade playlist:Twitter:Facebook:KartGaming is a Swedish dude who has loved video games his entire life, and he started this YouTube channel to share his thoughts and experiences with good games with people.
